laptop lunches trash-free challenge: day 1

last night, i did the prep work to start my week of trash free eating. i also had a first day at a new job to get ready for. the act of cleaning seems to naturally follow with any large life change. it's nice to have something non-work related to focus on as i begin a new routine.

changes to my routine:
-i have to get up much earlier - i want to be out the door by 7am to avoid traffic. this means -breakfast comes with me! it also means i'll be exercising after work.
commute is longer
-the company i now work for stocks groceries and snacks - i'll save money on food!
-they also have reusable dishes, silverware, glasses and a dishwasher. huzzah! my challenge will be easy, at least while at the office.

monday's meals
breakfast (packed in a reusable container, eaten with silverware)
6oz plain fat free greek yogurt (from bulk container)
1 tsp honey
1 tbsp sliced almonds
1 cup frozen raspberries
home-brewed coffee in stainless steel traveler mug

lunch (packed in bento box, eaten with silverware)
leftover mashed potatoes and salmon
small side salad
1 boiled egg
1/2 cup fruit

snacks
1/4 cup cashews (purchased in reusable container)
1 slice mozzarella cheese (from a block)
1 serving wheat thin crackers (from the box)

dinner
leftover salmon
tortilla
1 piece swiss cheese (made salmon quesadilla)
salad with romaine and tomatoes
small handful dry cereal

tomorrow, i'm going to the gym before seeing a play. i forgot about the challenge as i planned my day and thought i could pick up a sandwich at thundercloud between gym and play. nope! looks like i'll be bringing my own sandwich.

if anything, this challenge will help me cut calories and save money.
